Hi guys, I am a recent engg graduate, so hopefully you guys can understand where I am coming from.
I am in charge of programming and assigning priorities to the highways within a certain region and I was wondering if there is any simple way to assign a score or rating taking into consideration traffic volumes, pavement surface data, etc.
I am new to this stuff and would like to get a grasp of it. I've done some reading online and it seems like a lot of departments use computer models to come up with programs.
Thanks!

One place you could start is looking at pavement management systems. Here is an inexpensive one available to municipal highway departments: http://www.t2.unh.edu/software.html#rsms "...students of traffic are beginning to realize the false economy of mechanically controlled traffic, and hand work by trained officers will again prevail." - Wm.
