I am trying to find a good source to study desing of baffle walls and shapes for waste water treatment. I want to know the kind of issues that has to be addressed while designing the shape of baffle. Can anyone help me in finding a good book or give any suggestions.

Bimr, Do you any book that covers all or most of the applications regarding baffles? Presently looking for waste water treatment baffles design/shapes.

I would try Metcalf and Eddy. That is a good start. I used to have a process control book for environmental engineers that gave great design information for baffle designs but loaned it and I cannot remember the author. Another great reference is Perry's Chemical Engineering Reference. That has some great information with respect to mixing and seperation processes and sizing equipment based upon densities, viscosity etc...

Hi runoff, Thanks for your reply. I looked at Metcalf and Eddy, but they talked about the desing of the baffle system. I am looking for the shape and design required for baffle panels. I looked in Waste water engineering Treatment disposal and re-use. Is this the book you are referring to? Thanks again.

What is your application?
Are you trying to counteract the effect of a tank mizer? Are you talking about a chlorine tank? Are you talking about a chemical mizer? Are you talking aoubt a baffle in a pump wet well?
These are all different application that may need a baffle and the baffle would be different in each.

Hello Bimr, Thanks for your reply. I am trying to design a baffle which acts as a wall and submerged flow control devices. These can be used for chemical mixers, chlorine tank etc. As I am new to this field, I would like to learn as much as possible before coming up with a design. Thank you.

Regarding "I am trying to design a baffle which acts as a wall and submerged flow control devices". Why don't you use a parshall flume as a flow control device on the outlet of the proposed tank. The flume will maintain the water level in the tank without fouling up with solids. This arrangement is commonly used on the outlet from grit tanks.

Bimr, I haven't answered a part of the question you asked. My goal is to build just a wall. So I am looking for thickness values of the wall, shape (i.e. flat surface or curved such as sinusoidal etc.) For purification of water, water inside the tank has to move in a longer path from inlet to outlet using the minimum avaiable space inside the tank. 字串6 In case of a flat sheet their will not be any extra turbulence so I am trying to comeup with a curved sheet for baffles. With the information you provided I will try to determine the shape of the baffle. Thank you.
